Loose media is where most facilities lose the audit trail, so we treat it as the main event rather than an afterthought. LTO tapes are recorded by barcode and destroyed to BS EN 15713, with the destruction certificate listing the tapes rather than a weight. Drives are serialised, and the applied method — erasure to HMG Infosec Standard No. 5 or NIST SP 800-88, or physical shredding — is recorded per device. Camera cards and solid-state media are destroyed, not reformatted and resold. Where your policy or a client contract demands it, all of this happens at your facility with your staff watching. Media work does not run to a Monday-to-Friday estate calendar. Collections are scheduled around your reality: project and series wraps, where a facility must be cleared and provably clean before the next production moves in; studio strikes and location de-rigs at short notice; out-of-hours and weekend clears for buildings running live transmission or overnight sessions; and lease-end facility moves planned to a fixed hand-back date.
