Laptop Recycling & Disposal for Businesses
Laptops are the most common device in any IT refresh — and the riskiest to dispose of casually. Everyone carries a drive full of company data and a lithium battery that can’t go into general waste — and under UK GDPR, laptop disposal requires documented data destruction, not just removal. CITD provides secure laptop recycling and disposal for businesses, schools and public sector organisations across England, Scotland and Wales: every device wiped or shredded to certified standards, with free collection for 20 or more qualifying devices — collections across London and nationwide within a week.
Accreditation
ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001:2015 certified (Citation, certificate no. 336722020, valid to 2029), Cyber Essentials Plus, ICO registered (ZA246798) and fully UK GDPR compliant. Data erasure with Blancco, ADISA-certified software. Environment Agency licensed — Upper Tier Waste Carrier CBDU457411, Waste Storage Licence WEX476602 — with all staff BS 7858:2019 security vetted.
Certificates available on our licenses page or on request.
MacBooks, Chromebooks, Tablets — Every Portable Device
Laptop disposal rarely means just laptops. We process the whole portable estate: MacBooks and iMacs (including Apple’s soldered-storage models, where certified destruction matters most), Chromebooks — including school and college fleets retired at end of lifecycle — tablets, iPads and 2-in-1s, and the chargers, docks and cases that come with them under our clear-space policy. Every device follows the same route: serial logged, data destroyed to certified standards, battery recycled through its own stream.
Certified Data Destruction on Every Laptop
Every laptop is data-processed before anything else happens to it:
Certified erasure — drives wiped to NIST 800-88 and HMG Infosec Standard No. 5, Clear or Purge to your policy, using Blancco, ADISA-certified data erasure software
Physical destruction — carried out in accordance with BS EN 15713 where your policy requires it: hard drives shredded to 6–8mm, SSDs to 2mm, or complete laptops destroyed to 12–15mm
On-site or off-site — shredding available at your premises or at our facility
Certificates within five working days — data destruction certificates (per device or consolidated) plus your WEEE disposal certificate and a full audit report listing every serial number and asset tag
Every unit is logged in our ITAD portal — make, model, serial, asset tag and grading — visible to you, so your asset register closes cleanly.
What Happens to Your Laptops
Working machines are wiped, tested and prepared for reuse — the outcome with the smallest environmental footprint. Damaged and end-of-life units are dismantled: lithium batteries are removed and recycled through their own certified stream, boards, metals and plastics are separated into material streams, and 100% of what we collect is diverted from landfill. Chargers, docks, bags and peripherals can travel on the same collection under our clear-space policy.
Laptop Collection Across London
London is our busiest patch. In a typical week our vehicles are collecting from law firms in the city, fintechs in Shoreditch, agencies in Soho and public sector offices from Westminster to Croydon — with Camden, Islington, Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Southwark all on regular routes. Whether it’s a single laptop or a floor-by-floor corporate refresh, collection is by our own BS 7858-vetted drivers in GPS-tracked vehicles, never couriers — with secure laptop collection slots available across London within the week.
